In celebration of eleven years (11 ‘ears’) I made this cake. I used a pattern to make the stencil out of fondant. It was a triple chocolate cake torte with chocolate butter cream and iced with butter cream. There weren’t many specifications for this request other than Mickey and chocolate cake. It is light pink in color in honor of the wife’s favorite color.

Cupcakes for Co-op
I’ve never made a cupcake cake so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try to make one. Our co-op friends won’t be too critical.

Weekend cakes
This Girl Scout bridging cake featured Daisies to Brownies. I piped the names of the girls that bridged on the rainbow bridge and then the other girls that joined the troop were piped on the Brownie side.
This cake was for my nephew’s 2nd birthday party. I tried to make the fire truck off his invitation but made some modifications.

Celebrating a birthday
This is a cake for a joint Girl Scout meeting of Daisies & Juniors that will be collecting food in the neighborhood for the local pantry and then their snack will be a birthday cake & cupcakes to celebrate Juliette Low’s birthday.
I hope they enjoy them.
I had hoped this would resemble the Daisy emblem. Unfortunately, I didn’t allow enough time for practice and error if I needed to remake. I’m hoping they get it.

Here is my weekend cake:
Tomorrow a family will gather together and celebrate. The birthday girls had requested a cake with horses, a fence, and a ducks on a pond. The other night I spent some time sculpting the horses and ducks out of fondant. I also made some cattails and at my husbands recommendation – a turtle. I envisioned the fence as the backdrop with the horses resting in the field near the pond.
Here is how it turned out . . .

A Sneak Peek . . .
at a birthday cake for this weekend.
My first attempt at horses. I’m pretty pleased, but there’s plenty to work on.
What about those ducks?
I hope this cake turns out how I have envisioned it in my head!!

Twin sisters celebrate their individuality . . .
Two special little girls turned 9 today. I had the privilege to make their individual cakes.
They each picked a theme and in honor of their 9th birthday each cake had nine of something on it. The horse themed cake had 9 horseshoes and the monkey stranded on the island had 9 bananas.

Baby Showers
This cake –top tier – is vanilla with cookies n’ cream filling and butter cream icing and – bottom tier – triple chocolate fudge with chocolate mousse and butter cream icing.
This is a vanilla cake with a raspberry mousse filling and butter cream icing.
This is a red velvet with cake with cream cheese filling and icing. It was the first time I worked with cream cheese icing – need to work more with it. It isn’t as workable after it sets.
Before classes
I made cakes for my oldest on her 2nd thru 7th birthdays, our son’s 1st thru 3rd birthdays, and unfortunately, I didn’t make any cakes for our youngest before taking classes. All my pre-cake class cakes are in scrapbooks without a digital image so I don’t have many to share here.
These were made for a SIL’s baby shower in 2008 – which I think is when I thought it would be nice to learn the right or at least a better way to decorate cakes.
